Our Optical Department carries a variety of both fashionable and affordable frames.  Our prices are very competitive with retailers. We offer the Essilor frame and lens packages starting at $99.

Our practice accepts most major vision and health insurance including VSP, EyeMed, MES, and Spectera.  We offer comprehensive eye care for every age and condition. No matter what is going on with your eyes, we have specialists who can help right there at one of our offices.

Over 140 million people in the U.S. wear eyeglasses, and over 30 million wear contact lenses. Glasses and contact lenses improve vision by adjusting the way the eyes bend and focus light.

Ideally, light rays are refracted (bent) as they pass through the cornea so that they focus on the retina in the back of the eye. In a healthy eye, this means that objects can be seen clearly. However, many people’s corneas have a shallow or steep curvature, which causes light rays to focus in front of or behind the retina. Therefore, objects may then appear blurry at certain distances or at all distances. Glasses and contact lenses correct these refractive errors. Prescriptions are measured for each eye so patients can enjoy optimal vision clarity, usually 20/20.

Eyewear may be used for certain activities, such as reading for farsighted (hyperopic) patients and driving or watching television for nearsighted (myopic) patients, or maybe worn at all times.

Regular eye exams test for the development and progression of refractive errors and help your optometrist provide a proper prescription if eyeglasses or contact lenses are needed. Exams are also an invaluable tool in the early detection of eye disease.

Why Should I Buy My Eyeglasses From Conejo-Simi Eye Group?

Family wearing glasses

We get asked that question all the time. Then it is often followed by the statement “I can get them cheaper elsewhere.” Sound familiar?

Our goal as eye physicians is to get you seeing as well as possible. Sometimes to accomplish that goal we have to prescribe medications or perform surgery but often the solution is simply prescribing eyeglasses.

Just as new technology has improved our surgical results, newer lens technology has also improved visual results. The most obvious example of this is the Progressive Bifocal. Older generation Progressives will cause a lot of distortion when you look even slightly to the side. This is most apparent when you are viewing a computer or a book. You may have difficulty finding the “sweet spot” in your lens where the words are in focus and are constantly shifting your eyes around. The newest technology Progressive lens called the Varilux X has eliminated many of these issues and it is the only Progressive lens we sell in our Optical department.

If you bought a computer with 10 year old technology it would be relatively inexpensive. However, you most likely wouldn’t be satisfied with it because it would be too slow and not have enough memory. Similarly, older generation Progressive lenses are quite inexpensive. This is what is sold in discount optical stores and membership warehouses and that is how they keep their prices low. However, they will not give you your optimal visual performance. Just realize when you price shop eyeglasses, you are not always comparing apples to apples.

Our doctors often make other lens recommendations based upon your symptoms or complaints. For instance, if you are experiencing glare at nighttime or your eyes start to hurt after long periods of time on the computer, there are specific lens options we will suggest. However, similar to Progressives, not all lens products are the same. An anti reflective lens recommended to diminish glare can be quite effective or utterly useless depending upon the technology used to manufacture it. Yes, the anti reflective lens we sell in our office may be more expensive than you can get elsewhere but we know it will be the one that is most effective in addressing your problem.

Hopefully this information has better educated you about eyeglass technology and pricing. An informed, educated patient is their own best advocate. After your exam, we invite you to discuss your prescription and the lens options recommended by your physician with one of our opticians.
